Code of Conduct for Players

As Little League players, we have the privilege of learning and growing through the game of baseball/softball. We understand that our opponents are fellow players who deserve our respect. While victory is a goal, we prioritize playing with integrity and sportsmanship. 

Linden Little League expects all players to uphold the following Code of Conduct.

I will:

• Respect all players, coaches, umpires, and spectators. Treat everyone with kindness, courtesy, and respect.

• Play fair and honest. Avoid any actions that could be considered cheating or unsportsmanlike.

• Accept umpire decisions. Respect the umpire's judgment and refrain from arguing or showing disrespect.

• Support my teammates. Encourage and uplift my teammates both on and off the field.

• Strive for excellence. Give my best effort in every practice and game.

• Listen attentively to my coaches. Follow their instructions and learn from their guidance.

• Celebrate victories with humility and accept defeats with grace. Win with sportsmanship and lose with dignity.

• Be a good sport. Congratulate the other team after each game.

• Conduct myself with integrity. Avoid using violence, profanity, or any form of disrespectful language.

• Be a positive role model. Represent Linden Little League with pride and sportsmanship.

• Respect the field and equipment. Help maintain a clean and safe playing environment.

Code of Conduct for Coaches

Coaching in Linden Little League Baseball/Softball is a privilege and a significant responsibility. We aim to instill in our young athletes the values of trust, sportsmanship, responsibility, respect, fair play, and teamwork – values that will benefit them throughout life. Linden Little League expects all Coaches to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.

I will:

• Prioritize player development: Focus on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and fostering a love for the game.

• Create a positive and inclusive environment: Promote teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship among all players, regardless of skill level.

• Lead by example: Demonstrate sportsmanship, respect for umpires and opponents, and a positive attitude at all times.

• Communicate effectively: Maintain open and honest communication with players, parents, and fellow coaches.

• Ensure player safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all players at all times.

• Uphold the rules of the game: Adhere to all Little League rules and regulations.

• Respect umpire decisions: Accept umpire calls with grace and discourage players from arguing calls.

• Promote fair play: Encourage players to play honestly and compete fairly.

• Celebrate both victories and defeats: Emphasize the importance of effort, sportsmanship, and learning from both wins and losses.

• Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor: Conduct myself in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

I will not:

• Engage in any form of verbal or physical abuse: Treat players, parents, umpires, or other coaches with respect at all times.

• Use profanity or engage in any form of disrespectful language: Maintain a positive and supportive language at all times.

• Publicly criticize players or other coaches: Address any concerns privately and constructively.

• Favor certain players: Treat all players fairly and provide equal opportunities for all.

• Use equipment or coaching methods that could endanger players: Prioritize player safety in all aspects of coaching.

Code of Conduct for Parents

As parents of Linden Little League players, we understand that we play a vital role in creating a positive and supportive environment for our children and the entire league. We commit to upholding the following Code of Conduct:

We will:

• Support and encourage our children: Offer positive reinforcement and constructive feedback.

• Respect coaches and umpires: Refrain from criticizing coaches or umpires, either publicly or privately.

• Promote good sportsmanship: Teach our children the importance of fair play, respect for opponents, and graciousness in both victory and defeat.

• Be positive role models: Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship and behavior at all games and practices.

• Respect the rules and regulations of Linden Little League: Adhere to all league policies and procedures.

• Prioritize player safety: Ensure our children are properly equipped and prepared for practices and games.

• Communicate effectively with coaches: Address any concerns or questions with coaches in a respectful and constructive manner.

• Volunteer our time: Contribute to the success of the league through volunteering when possible.

• Create a positive and inclusive environment: Support all players and foster a sense of community within the league.

We will not:

• Engage in any form of verbal or physical abuse: Treat coaches, umpires, players, or other parents with respect at all times.

• Use profanity or engage in any form of disrespectful language: Maintain a positive and supportive language at all times.

• Coach from the sidelines: Allow coaches to do their jobs and refrain from giving instructions or criticism during games.

• Publicly criticize players or other coaches: Address any concerns privately and constructively.

• Create a hostile or disruptive environment: Maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for all participants.
