Code of Conduct for Coaches
Coaching in Linden Little League Baseball/Softball is a privilege and a significant responsibility. We aim to instill in our young athletes the values of trust, sportsmanship, responsibility, respect, fair play, and teamwork – values that will benefit them throughout life. Linden Little League expects all Coaches to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.
I will:
Prioritize player development: Focus on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and fostering a love for the game.
Create a positive and inclusive environment: Promote teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship among all players, regardless of skill level.
Lead by example: Demonstrate sportsmanship, respect for umpires and opponents, and a positive attitude at all times.
Communicate effectively: Maintain open and honest communication with players, parents, and fellow coaches.
Ensure player safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all players at all times.
Uphold the rules of the game: Adhere to all Little League rules and regulations.
Respect umpire decisions: Accept umpire calls with grace and discourage players from arguing calls.
Promote fair play: Encourage players to play honestly and compete fairly.
Celebrate both victories and defeats: Emphasize the importance of effort, sportsmanship, and learning from both wins and losses.
Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor: Conduct myself in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
I will not:
Engage in any form of verbal or physical abuse: Treat players, parents, umpires, or other coaches with respect at all times.
Use profanity or engage in any form of disrespectful language: Maintain a positive and supportive language at all times.
Publicly criticize players or other coaches: Address any concerns privately and constructively.
Favor certain players: Treat all players fairly and provide equal opportunities for all.
Use equipment or coaching methods that could endanger players: Prioritize player safety in all aspects of coaching.
